
If you read the Bible carefully, you will notice that the bones of the dead will join together and lead. This simply implies that when the living ask for guidance from the vibrations, their method of leading will blend with the spirits of the deceased. Also, according to African culture, a grave is more than just a symbol; it is a home for our ancestors, so if things aren’t going well, we go to the grave and chat about whatever we want. That is why you see individuals taking traditional beer and pouring it on the grave while expressing their dissatisfaction.
Following that, President Cyril Ramaphosa paid a visit to the graves of previous ANC Presidents James Moroka and Zacharias Mahabane, requesting their “bones” to show the way for the current leadership. Remember, according to African culture, you must always do this before embarking on a voyage. You don’t go on a journey without first seeking guidance and wisdom from your ancestors. Ramaphosa is about to run for president for a second time, which is why he is asking the ancestors or vines to lead.
This has nothing to do with religion; it is simply a belief held by Africans, particularly Venda. Many people criticized him after his video was shared on social media, claiming that it suggested he was lost and that’s why he’s asking the dead to guide. Those who are Christians who read the Bible will tell you that you don’t accomplish anything without first bowing down and praying to God for guidance, so in African tradition, they seek guidance from the ancestors.
